spring has sprung

When we arrived here in the beginning of March, Seattle welcomed us with freezing 40-50 degree temperatures, rain, and even several days of snowfall. Trees were bare and not a flower was in sight. Almost overnight, I’ve watched the trees outside our hotel window flourish from twigs and branches to lush shades of chartreuse and bright greens. Sakura trees were everywhere… my FAVORITE!

I was browsing through an old classmate’s blog when I found this little presentation on branding. It is one of the most simplest, yet thorough, presentations about branding I’ve seen. As a designer, I can appreciate the effort in putting this together. It was well worth my 4ish minutes and I have to say my favorite slides are 87 and 107. Awesome. Thanks for sharing this one, Mark!

After 4 years of attempts and many many champagne corks later, my good friend Rick was named a “finalist” in the DWR Champagne Chair Contest, using only materials of (2) Champagne corks, wire, foil and glue. Out of hundreds and thousands of entries entered from around the world, 50 are chosen to tour the different DWR store locations. Bust out the champagne! Introducing Rick’s “Slat.”

Thank you for visiting my design and letterpress blog. Here, I will be posting my experiments, solutions and an occasional reaction to the world around me. I hope to document my chronicles as a designer, my adventures as a typophile, and my trials and errors with one of my first loves—letterpress. enjoy
